Common questions
Money, Quotes and the $50 Off
How do quotes work?
An electrician looks at the job on site and talks you through what it involves. You get the number on the spot, and nothing gets switched off or pulled apart until you've said yes.
Do prices change once you start?
What you approved is what lands on the invoice. If a wall or the switchboard opens up something nobody could have seen beforehand, we down tools, explain it, and wait for your answer before spending another dollar.
Do you charge a call-out fee?
Coming out to look at the job and talk you through it costs nothing. Say no afterwards and you still owe us nothing.
How do I pay?
However works best for you, sorted out once the number's locked in and well before anyone's picked up a screwdriver. Nothing about payment gets left as a surprise for the end of the job.
Common questions
Licensed, Insured and Done Properly
What brands do you install?
Clipsal and Hager switchgear, SAL and Beacon Lighting fixtures. Premium gear, not the cheapest import on the shelf, because it's what holds up in a harbourside climate with salt in the air off Middle Harbour.
What is a Certificate of Compliance and do I get one?
It's the paperwork proving notifiable electrical work meets NSW standards, lodged with NSW Fair Trading once the job's finished. You get a copy for your records, useful at sale time or for insurance.
What is AS/NZS 3000?
The national wiring rules every licensed electrician has to work to, covering cable sizing through to how a switchboard's built. Every job we do here is tested against it before we sign off.
What is a safety switch (RCD) and do I need one?
It watches every circuit and shuts the power off the instant current starts going somewhere it shouldn't, before a shock has time to turn dangerous. Original wiring on the peninsula predates the requirement, so plenty of homes here are still missing one.
Common questions
Response Times and Booking
What happens after I call?
We talk through what's going on, book a time, and turn up when we say. A licensed electrician quotes the job on site, in plain English, before any tools come out.
What counts as an electrical emergency?
Total power loss, smoke or a burning smell, sparking, or wiring you can see is exposed. Ring straight away for any of those, and the licensed electrician who picks up will walk you through what to do until we arrive.
How fast can you get here?
Often same or next day for a standard booking, sometimes sooner if the schedule allows. Tell us it's urgent on the phone and we'll bump it up the list.
How do I book?
Call (02) 9139 8011 and tell us what's happening. We'll lock in a time that works and confirm it before we arrive.
Common questions
The Northbridge Questions
What suburbs do you service?
Northbridge and the wider Willoughby patch around it, including Cammeray, Willoughby, Naremburn, Crows Nest and North Sydney.
Why do Northbridge's older homes need switchboard upgrades?
A lot of the Federation and mid-century stock here still runs original ceramic-fuse boards, built long before RCDs were standard. Fuses that blow under a modern load and circuits with no safety switch are the two things we see most.
Do you know Northbridge's housing stock?
We do. The suburb grew up around the 1892 Long Gully Bridge, and the sandstone and double-brick homes from that era still make up a big share of what's on the peninsula today, alongside newer builds closer to the water.
Do you work on heritage or strata properties?
Yes, both come up regularly given the mix of period homes and apartment pockets near the Plaza. Careful, compliant work on an older property is standard for us, not a special case.
